It was cold down by the river today but today was the day I chose to steal some time away with my camera. I was determined. Even if it lasted for only 10 minutes.
Here is a shot of The Canadian Museum for Human Rights taken from the east bank of the Red River near the foot of the Esplanade Riel in Winnipeg.

Misty Morning
I shot this on a cold misty morning. Snow and ice were all around except on this lake, the deepest lake in Manitoba. This lake is interesting in its origin as it was formed when a meteorite hit the earth, creating a huge crater that became what we now know as West Hawk Lake.
My shutter speed was 1/125 and my aperture was f/5.0. My ISO was 100 and focal length 190. When I converted the image to black and white, the frosted trees seemed to separate from those without, the mist became more obvious and the negative space more effective.

Fleet
The mist and fog settled in. It was as though nothing else existed, only our fleet of sails and the ocean below. Quiet was ours as time stood still.

Holding Out
I stood on the middle of the bridge and pointed my lens at the mist coming up through the last patch of open water. It wouldn't be much longer, maybe a day or two more with the cold snap, and the water would give way to winter's cover. It seems to have taken longer this year than previous years though I'm not sure why. It has felt cold enough for solid footing on the river.
