Hoping all the little ones dressed in costumed cuteness stay safe tonight.

Seeing Beauty
Had I kept my chin tucked and cheeks down searching for shelter,
my hands curled up inside the heart of my gloves,
I wouldn't have seen this.
Nor would I have captured this to see it again
and remember...
...that sometimes we need to go out of our places of comfort to see beauty.

Quiet Stillness
Quiet stillness in a chilly studio.
The sun is shining in through my window.
Beautiful piano music is playing in the background.
And now the day calls and I am ready.

Thanksgiving
It is Canada's Thanksgiving weekend, a time we intentionally remember and give thanks for what we've been given. To all of you who are part of this little community, for you to take the time to look at my photos and also see them, I thank you.
To share the gifts or talents we have been given requires those willing to receive what we share. So thank you for receiving by way of seeing and also by way of responding from time to time. You have encouraged me to continue to see the world around me with eyes wide open, looking carefully for the beauty of God all around.

Be Present
This photo was taken in Bird's Hill Provincial Park several years ago. From one week to the next this scene changed drastically. Returning a week later for some follow up pictures, the landscape was void of the yellow tucked into the woods. The golden splash was what made the shot.
Sometimes life is like that. I am reminded to be present, capture the moment and hold it close. When I move on to hold the next moment, and I must, this one is gone. But if I have paid attention, it is not forgotten.

Steps Forward
Summer has come and gone. Autumn has already been with us for a couple of weeks. Time is moving so quickly and with it, change can come.
Many of you know that I have been selling my work on Etsy. As of November 1, this will come to an end. It has been a wonderful place for me to learn about marketing my work, something that has been a challenge for me. But it is time to move in a new direction. You'll still be able to purchase my work but you'll need to contact me directly to do so.
I have two solo shows on the horizon, one in Manitoba and one in Toronto. I'm also looking forward to some local opportunities where I have the privilege of showing singular work alongside other artists.
You may have noticed a new tab at the top of the page called One of One. This is another new change, something to be watching.
As with any change, it can leave us feeling a little unsettled and a little unsure because of perceived risk. The temptation is to retreat, to wait until there are no doubts, to stay safe. The voice, the leading that I am following says otherwise. And so I am taking these steps forward.
"Nothing will ever be attempted, if all possible objections must be first overcome." ~Samuel Johnson, Rasselas, 1759
