Quiet Stillness

Quiet stillness in a chilly studio.
The sun is shining in through my window.
Beautiful piano music is playing in the background.
And now the day calls and I am ready.

Morning Light

This morning's light was so beautiful as it tried to make its way through our curtains.
Seeing the sun cast its golden glow to the floor and piano, I got my camera and tripod to catch a little of this sunshine.

I needed the tripod because of the low light. I also bumped up the ISO to 400 for the same reason. My shutter speed was quite slow, set at .5 sec and my aperture was f/7.1. My focal length was 43 mm using my 24-70mm lens.

Sweet Morning

I pulled back the curtains this morning and saw that my grape hyacinths had bloomed...overnight it seemed. What a sweet morning greeting!

Getting close, and then closer still was the magic in this morning greeting. How often do we miss details like the white lips of the bells gently opening to the earth below? The rest of the garden did not help tell this sweet hello so I moved in with my macro lens and shut out the rest, the noise, the clutter.

Using some sepia toned layering in processing enhanced the images in a way that was pleasing for me.

Gentle Morning

Mornings are not always so gentle but today's was. As I viewed this image at the beginning of my day it helped set the tone of gentleness.

The colors are soft and soothing. The petals move, just slightly, more of a sway than anything else, maybe a rocking motion. I find myself rocking back in time, slowly and gently.

I must admit I am on a bit of a layers kick. I am enjoying seeing some of my archived images transform into something other than what they were, or rather, something more of what they were.

Before the Rush

Waiting for the day's patrons, the umbrellas lean up against the window and bask in the morning's sun. Soon the tables will be filled with ladies who lunch and toddlers in tow. But for now, the coloured canvases can rest easy and enjoy the company of each other.

A little further down the patio, the umbrellas were already at work, shielding some early risers from the morning's glare.

Beyond the patio, down the pathway, the gardens were coming to life. Bits of bright colours dot the blankets of green.

Few passers by catch sight of these gems in the early morning's brilliance but in a little while, the sun-shaded coffee drinkers will wander by. The blooms are sure to please.
