The Morning Finds Them

To Touch

To see through each other to our hearts and reach to touch with tenderness, this is love.

Light's Presence

The light that bounced off the tips of the tulips and edges of the leaves caught my eye. The shadows remained but the light resonated, deeply.

There have been dark shadows cast with the difficult and tragic events that have unfolded or collided with our lives over the past days and weeks. I think what drew me to the light on these tulips was the hope it symbolized for love and goodness and healing in a world where shadows remain.

What I was reminded of when I looked at these flowers was that shadows prove Light's presence. Something may be standing in the way of Light's reach but Light is surely present. I just may have to move a little to see it or, maybe, sometimes, I will need to get out of the way so another's view of Light is not blocked.

Spring is Coming

We woke up to winter today. The snow is still coming down and will throughout much of today.

My tulips sit on the dining table. Even they seem a little down by winter's insistence. Cheer up, my sunny little friends. Spring is coming.

The wind catches it just right. Flying out of my hands it reaches up then splashes down into the puddle I'm standing in.

Textures and layers can join up with imagination to create engaging and magical photos, ones we lose ourselves in as our own experiences meet together with a little daydreaming.

At my hard drive's expense, I save most of the images I take. Though there are some I know need to be junked, sometimes there are a few that can not just be salvaged but turned into better images than the ones I originally thought to be the best. Not often but sometimes. At the very least, the archived "duds" allow me some playtime where I can let my imagination run free.

Softened Memories

Colour My World with Gentleness

We all long for a little gentleness in our lives. Perhaps if we choose it, to extend it no matter the chaos we may be experiencing, we might even see it around us and see it grow. Choosing gentleness can change the outcome of a conversation, soothe a person's spirit, and invite another to choose gentleness. The ripple effect is not only possible but probable.

For this image I used my macro lens to create a soft and soothing composition. A shallow depth of field softened much of the picture.

The eye moves effortlessly from colour to colour, stopping for a moment on the violet and then gently continuing on to the green and yellow. We're invited to linger here and almost float through the image, without being hurried from one leaf to the next.

Gentle Morning

Mornings are not always so gentle but today's was. As I viewed this image at the beginning of my day it helped set the tone of gentleness.

The colors are soft and soothing. The petals move, just slightly, more of a sway than anything else, maybe a rocking motion. I find myself rocking back in time, slowly and gently.

I must admit I am on a bit of a layers kick. I am enjoying seeing some of my archived images transform into something other than what they were, or rather, something more of what they were.

Spring is Around the Corner

I looked at the weather forecast for the next week or so and decided that I must do a springtime post! The temperatures are supposed to soar and I cannot wait!

Looking through my archives for just the right image that says "spring" I found this cheery tulip. Not only happy, it is also dramatic, which is what the change to next week's temps will be if in fact the forecast is right. The contrast in this image is just right for representing the change from this week's toques and toboggans to next week's sunglasses and spring jackets.

Playing in the Light

There is so much play and movement in this image. The light swirls around the tulip and the tulip plays back. Happy interaction is caught with my lens, yet carries on, totally unaware of my intrusion. I intentionally chose to remove the colour as it was not important to this composition; it distracted.
