Morning's Light

Last night's flowers, thirsty and tired, huddle together in blue and green vases on the patio table. The chairs are stacked behind them. Chatter and laughter are still sleeping. The pigeons have swept the concrete clean and have moved along. The party is over; morning has come.

Before the Rush

Waiting for the day's patrons, the umbrellas lean up against the window and bask in the morning's sun. Soon the tables will be filled with ladies who lunch and toddlers in tow. But for now, the coloured canvases can rest easy and enjoy the company of each other.

A little further down the patio, the umbrellas were already at work, shielding some early risers from the morning's glare.

Beyond the patio, down the pathway, the gardens were coming to life. Bits of bright colours dot the blankets of green.

Few passers by catch sight of these gems in the early morning's brilliance but in a little while, the sun-shaded coffee drinkers will wander by. The blooms are sure to please.

Patio Days
