Amazing Sunrise

A pretty amazing and awe-inspiring way to begin looking at this day.
Thankful for the sunrise.

Light

Your Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light to my path.

Hope

I took this photo just over two years ago and called it Hope. Our family was going through some rough stuff during that time. When I look back and realize that I did see light and I did have hope during a dark time, it sure encourages me today. What a gift to be able to thumb through my archives and pull out hope!

The Why of the Shot

Here is why I took this picture:
1. The first obvious reason is the beautiful colours in the sunrise.
2. I like the lines of the wires. I am often drawn to linear compositions.
3. I also like the strong lines of the light standards but what I like more about them is their opposing directions and the fact that one light is on and one is off.
4. The surprising twist of an urban subject in a sunrise is sometimes more engaging than the natural choice of trees.

Caramel Sunrise

I can hardly contain myself when I see sights like this golden sunrise coating the fields with a caramel topping. Each morning, the light seems unique to the day. The morning of this shot was no exception. When I am late to the day, I wonder what I missed.

Like Life Itself

I love the strong orderly lines and also the illusion of chaos and confusion the further away they go. I love the solid structure of the poles and the soft sweeping clouds with no borders to contain them. I love the wires that are held taut alongside the wires that are loosely strung. I love the muted pinks and blues behind the solid blacks.

This picture is like life itself to me. The contrasts, the tensions, the gentleness, the strength, the differences all come together wonderfully, beautifully.

East and West

Standing on the sidewalk, I looked east down the trail alongside the tracks and this is what I saw...

I turned around and looked west. This is what the sky showed me...

No colour changes in photoshop, both taken within a minute of each other...isn't this cool?

Dancing with the Morning's Sky

There are a few trees along my trail walk that I look for each morning. I would miss them if they were not there. This is one of them. There is a movement in her branches that danced so beautifully with this morning's sky.

Creation is Tired

It is not in the absence of loss that beauty exists but rather it is in the presence of light. The leaves fall. The grass begins to droop. Creation is tired. Yet there is beauty.

I took this picture several years back and ended up using it together with the words above for some cards I had made up. The words continue to be true for me as I journey through life.

Hard times come. Difficult and challenging circumstances continue on. Sometimes it is hard to see beyond the darkness.

This image has dying grasses, dark shadows and fallen leaves but we're not left with an overwhelming feeling of hopelessness after viewing this. Why? Because there is light.

Sunrise

The sun peaks over the horizon. Her rays are crimson this morning, reaching out to warm the rocks, the land, the sea...and me. May the sun shine light and colour - both, on your day.
