It was cold down by the river today but today was the day I chose to steal some time away with my camera. I was determined. Even if it lasted for only 10 minutes.
Here is a shot of The Canadian Museum for Human Rights taken from the east bank of the Red River near the foot of the Esplanade Riel in Winnipeg.

Landscape Shooting
East Braintree, Manitoba
For this kind of landscape shot, it is important to have a significant depth of field. Having an overall clarity to the entire scene is key. The detail in the old wood on the bridge, the frost on the grasses beyond, the dirt road leading to the treed area in the background are important, each one.Because of this, I chose to use an aperture of f/20. This required a slower shutter speed to allow as much light in as possible. Because I didn't have my tripod handy, I used 1/50, a reasonable speed for a hand-held camera.

Moonlit Pass
This shot was taken near Oakville, Manitoba. It was a beautiful late autumn day. Many leaves had already found their way to the ground. The grasses were dry and the fields were mostly stubble.
Though pleased with the initial colours and tones in the daytime capture, changing this up in Lightroom also changed the entire mood of the image. Adding a moonlit preset brought a mystery to this scene that wasn't there initially.
Stories are woven. Imaginations soar. We play and explore.

Spotlight - Bridge
I feel as though there is a bridge in front of me...a bridge to the next thing. It will take courage to take a step onto the bridge for I don't really know where it will take me. In many ways, in all ways, it is a leap of faith, stepping onto the bridge. I believe that taking leaps, or steps of faith is the way to go, the best way to go. Waiting until the next thing is a sure thing means I'll be waiting a long while. Instead I will trust in the One who made me. He has good plans for me so...I'll take that leap of faith.
Here I am on that first board you see here, moving forward.

Love it when this happens...
I checked my email this morning and found a message from a magazine company. I had entered a contest awhile back but didn't win. That was not the reason for the correspondence today. My image was not what they were after for the contest but it turns out they liked it so much, they kept it on the back burner for a future spot in their magazine. That is almost better than winning the contest! I won't share the name of the magazine until the image has been published but will share the image here.
