This has driven me crazy more often than not but this morning it was a welcome sight. These are my daughter's flip flops. Since she's moved out to camp I don't trip over her flip flops anymore. When I woke up this morning and wandered into the kitchen and saw them sitting in the doorway, I smiled. She was home for Thanksgiving weekend.

Stillness
Leaving room for stillness takes effort. To allow for rest and quiet would seem to be a fairly easy thing to do. It should require little effort to rest, little noise to be quiet. That is not often the case. These days it seems we need to carve out quiet from our calendar and then apologize for it when we have it...or listen to the noise in our heads that makes us feel guilty for taking time to be still.
What if we were simply still?
What if we were simply still?

Different Together
Contrast can be such an important piece of composition. In this image, I love the contrast between the cold and dark metal of the chain linked fence alongside the sunny and delicate bloom. One doesn't take away from the other, not at all. They compliment and enhance each other. They can be very different and live alongside each other, touching, doing what they are intended to do, amiably. One without the other would not be so interesting, so engaging. Kind of like us, no?

Autumn's Boots
The day's work is done. The boots are left on the mat outside, the garden still holding tight to the tread. Leaves blow in and settle, creating a new landscape, at least until the next shake of the snow-globe.
Calm Waters
The waters are calm. The sun is warm. The geese relax. No need to call. No need to fly. Floating is all that is required this afternoon.
Anticipation
She's young. She looks out ahead and wonders what is in store for her.
Pausing for a moment to consider the possibilities, she takes a deep
breath and greets her future.

Tenderness
I almost feel as though I should look away but I cannot. There is a sweet and intimate tenderness between these two blooms...just touching a little bit...gently...sweetly.
Pointing to the Subject
Our eyes will naturally be drawn to yellow. In this image this remains true, though colour is not the only thing that directs our attention to the dandelion. Pattern and depth of field work beautifully together here. The pattern, though a large part of the frame, does not detract from the weed. Rather, it points to it with depth of field's help.
