Sparking Romance

My macro lens, exceptional evening light and some fabulous layering in processing teamed up to create this magical image.

The lighting was perfect, illuminating this common weed in such a way that was so mesmerizing, much like a campfire's charm. The airy seeds seemed to dance together with the streams of light, brushing up against each other, sparking romance. It was a world I couldn't enter but I wasn't about to look away either!

Wishes

While I'm on my dandelion kick, I'll add another image I took this morning that I've called Wishes.

I love how these two wishes have lodged themselves between a rock and a hard place. Yet they are still present, like hope. And isn't that exactly the place where we feel we need hope the most?

I wanted this image to be as natural as possible. I chose not to use any layers or processing outside of some sharpening and removal of noise. I did not change the colours present or add any layers to blur or modify the image. Choosing to show these seeds just as they were was important to me. The wind called for many captures to get one image that was relatively sharp. In the end, I am pretty happy with the results.

Make a Wish

Pretty and magical. No wonder we make a wish and blow. If were were wishing for our wishes to multiply, maybe that is why we see fields covered in these weeds!

Using my 60 mm macro lens and settings of f2.8 with a shutter speed of 1/160 I shot this image of a dandelion gone to seed. I found the resulting image to be a bit underexposed so I bumped up the exposure in processing.

Pointing to the Subject

Our eyes will naturally be drawn to yellow. In this image this remains true, though colour is not the only thing that directs our attention to the dandelion. Pattern and depth of field work beautifully together here. The pattern, though a large part of the frame, does not detract from the weed. Rather, it points to it with depth of field's help.

Dreamy Dandelion

The dreamy dandelion fluff...this is what caught my eye today as I hit the trail this morning. I revisited the spot where the giant fluffs were located along the tracks with camera in hand this afternoon. I'm not even sure if these were actually dandelions or some other kind of weed or wildflower. No matter, they were beautiful and my macro lens did not disappoint me in allowing me to see closer.

 

 

Dandelion Continued

I'm still thinking about the dandelion. Here she is shown, delicate, vulnerable, fragile, nearing the end of her time yet she continues her work, her purpose. Sowing seeds, she gives until the end. Now some of us might not like what she has to give but the fact that she does this is really quite remarkable. She finishes and she finishes well.

I want to live my life well, filling my days with things that will fulfill the purpose I have been given. What about you?
