Often I will get down on my hands and knees and sometimes I'll even be belly-to-the ground to get shots of flowers. I find that the lower perspective makes for a more interesting photo just as getting down to the eye level of a child and then taking their picture almost always makes for a better photo than standing and shooting downward.
Here I've chosen otherwise and I think the exception to my habit has turned out pretty well.

I Captured the Hydrangea
The gentle colours in this hydrangea were not to be captured in full sun. The light was too harsh and the shadows too dark for romance and tenderness.
I moved my potted treasure to a room with a north window. The window coverings were a soft ecru fabric, allowing just the right amount of light in to blanket these blooms. Still too shadowed at the front, I pulled out my reflector and bounced the window's light to the shadowed petals. I mounted my camera on a tripod and used the shutter release cable in order to allow me some room to move to hold the reflector at a good distance from the plant. In processing I added a texture layer for the final touch.

Typical with Exception
Some sights are typical to the season at hand. The reds, browns and oranges found in the leaves and berries are familiar in autumn. But then, there is the exception. A pop of purple in blooms low to the ground surprise me. It is as though there are two seasons side by side. I guess that is so.

Their Dance
Gently they moved in the wind, lending sweet romance to the landscape. The dance was theirs to dance and my pleasure to behold. I didn't want to leave.
